How do I announce planned maintenance?

Post a status update with the status Maintenance and a message that states when the work starts and how long it takes. Post another update with the status Operational when it is done.

Steps

1. Open the service, select Updates, then Post Update.
2. Choose Maintenance as the Status.
3. Optionally choose the affected Component.
4. Write the times in the message, for example Database upgrade from 22:00 to 22:30 UTC.
5. Select Post Update.
6. When the work is finished, post an update with the status Operational.

Questions

Does maintenance count against uptime?

Yes. Maintenance and Under Monitoring days lower the day's uptime on the 90-day bar.

Should I pause monitors during maintenance?

Monitors keep running. If a check fails during the work, it publishes its own status update.
