How do I publish a status update?
Open your service, go to Updates, select Post Update, choose a status, write a message and submit. The update appears on the public page and is emailed to confirmed subscribers.
Before you start
- You are a member of the service with any role (SUPPORT, OPERATIONS or ADMIN).
- The plan does not matter. This works on FREE and PRO.
Steps
- Sign in and open the service from the dashboard.
- Select the Updates tab, then Post Update.
- Choose a Status. Use Degraded Performance for slow or partial problems and Critical Outage when the service is unusable.
- Optional: choose a Component to limit the update to one part of the service.
- Write the Message. Select Preview to check the Markdown.
- Select Post Update.

Questions
How do I mark a service as healthy again?
Post a new update with the status Operational. The page headline shows the worst status across the service and its components, so post Operational for each component you marked.
How do I fix a typo after posting?
Open Updates, edit the update and save. This works for 7 days after posting. The public page then shows "Edited" and the time.
Can I use links in the message?
No. Links, images, tables and raw HTML are removed from the public page.
How do I publish from a script?
Create an Application Programming Interface (API) key under API Keys and call POST /api/v1/services/{slug}/status. Creating keys needs the ADMIN role.
