How do I set how often a monitor runs?

Set Interval in hours and minutes and Timeout in seconds on the monitor form.

Rules

• A public monitor must run at least every 5 minutes or less often.
• A private monitor's interval must be at least twice its timeout.
• Timeout is from 5 to 120 seconds. The default is 30.
• The longest interval is 23 hours and 59 minutes.

If the interval is shorter than twice the timeout, the form raises it and says so.

Which interval should I pick?

Pick the shortest interval you can act on. A check every 5 minutes with a threshold of 2 detects an outage in 5 to 10 minutes.

When does a new monitor run first?

On the next scheduler tick, which is within about 10 seconds.
