How do I monitor only the HTTP status code?
Add a Text Match monitor and choose HTTP status code under Evaluate by. Then map each reply class to a status. The status code is the number in a Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) reply, such as 200 or 503.
Steps
- Open the service, select Monitoring, then Add Monitoring.
- Choose Text Match as Type, pick the Endpoint and enter the Path.
- Under Evaluate by, choose HTTP status code.
- Under Map response status code to, choose a status for 2xx, 3xx, 4xx and 5xx. The defaults are 2xx and 3xx Operational, 4xx Critical and 5xx Degraded.
- Select Verify, then Add Monitor.
Questions
Are redirects followed?
No. A redirect reply is seen as 3xx. If your site redirects http to https, point the endpoint at the final address.
What about timeouts and unreachable servers?
They are not part of the map. They are published with the status chosen under Publish as in the thresholds section.
